Find answers about subscriptions, card use, donations, tax deductibility, and how to contact the Street Charity team.
Is my subscription tax deductible?
Absolutely. Street Charity is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit. Every penny donated to Street Charity through subscriptions or bulk card purchases is 100% tax deductible.
How do I get these cards?
Become a monthly giver, donate now, and we will send you four cards every month to hand out to those in need of food, or you can make a one-time-only bulk order of cards without subscribing.
Can I just buy one card?
We look forward to offering lots of ways to get Street Charity Cards, but currently, we offer monthly subscriptions (four cards delivered every four weeks), or bulk cards starting with as few as 25 cards.
Can I get cards without subscribing?
Yes! You can donate and get Street Charity Cards in bulk amounts starting with as few as 25. Otherwise, we offer a subscription model that equips you with four cards every four weeks, so you will always be armed with a meal to share.
Can the cards be used at places other than fast-food/quick-serve restaurants?
No. That is by design. The cards are coded to work in fast-food restaurant locations ONLY. Donors can be confident their gift goes to a meal.
Can the cards be used multiple times or reloaded?
No. Cards can only be used one time to make a food purchase and are not reloadable. A large portion of any funds remaining on the card will be donated to a local food bank to feed others.
What if the purchase price of the meal is less than $5?
No problem. A portion of any remaining amount (no matter how large or small) is automatically sent to a local food bank.
What if the purchase price of the meal is more than 5$?
Street Charity will cover the extra cost up to $5.64 to account for taxes or other fees. If the purchase price exceeds that amount, cash or other cards can be used.
What about tax?
Street Charity will pay for any tax amount up to 64 cents.
Do restaurants welcome people using the cards?
Many restaurants already give food to people who come in hungry, often at the back door. A Street Charity card brings them in through the front door to order like any other paying customer, and it gives the restaurant top-line revenue.
What if I want to cancel my membership?
No problem. You can cancel at any time; however, we would prefer that you consider only “pausing” your membership until your situation allows you to give again. We want to make it easy to reignite your giving as soon as it is possible for you.
How does Street Charity make money?
Like most nonprofits, Street Charity receives donations from generous monthly givers, and corporations.
